From 2018 until today Urus has played a crucial role in the brand’s growth by earning a large number of awards and recognitions owing to its extreme versatility, which makes it able to tackle any off-road course or context. All in all, it is estimated that the Urus units found all over the world have covered a distance of over 360 million kilometers.
Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini stated that since the concept was presented in 2012 until its launch on the market in 2018, “Urus immediately demonstrated all of its allure – an allure that it continues to wield like every genuine Lamborghini. […] It is a perfect complement for our lines of super sports car models as it offers an everyday driving experience dictated by luxury and high performance to those who identify with our authentically Italian brand.”
An around-the-world tour among records and adventures
Thanks to its six driving modes – Strada, Sport and Corsa, plus off-road, Sabbia and Neve – the fame of Urus in “Unlock any Road” grew as the Super SUV cut across roads the world over. From the speed on ice record on Lake Bajkal in Russia and the climb up Umling La pass in India to the landscapes of Japan and Iceland to the most exclusive destinations of splendid Sardinia, and all the way to the sands of Nazaré in Portugal, the Lamborghini Urus fears no route at all.
The Urus growth factor
With the arrival of Urus, the Automobili Lamborghini headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese doubled its surface area, from 80,000 to 160,000 square meters, and introduced the Lamborghini 4.0 model, an innovative approach to production technologies. And that’s not all. In 2019, the Urus painting system was inaugurated, and its procurement chain has become more sustainable since 2020, with CO2 emissions reduced by 85%.
The V8 turbo engine: the perfect fusion of aggressiveness and functionality
Urus is fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 650 CV (478 kW) at 6000 rpm (max. 6800 rpm) and 850 Nm of torque at 2250 rpm. It boasts one of the highest specific power outputs of its class, in addition to a weight to power ratio of 3.38 kg/CV. By combining four-wheel steering with all-wheel drive, Urus accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds (from 0 to 200 km/h in 12.8 seconds) and it reaches a top speed of 305 km/h.
