The 2022 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season kicked off at Imola on the weekend of April 2-3, with 36 cars taking to the grid to debut the brand-new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 car. The weekend was dominated by Bonaldi Motorsport’s Loris Spinelli and Max Weering who won both of the 50-minute races in the #61 machine. Among the protagonists during the opening round, was three-time world champion motorcyclist in the 125 and 250cc classes and former MotoGP rider Dani Pedrosa. The 36-year-old contested his first-ever race on four wheels with Lamborghini Super Trofeo, joining theb FFF Racing Team alongside Swiss racer Antonin Borga.
Pedrosa and Borga finished Saturday’s first race ninth in the Pro-Am class, before taking an impressive fourth in class (and eighth overall) in the second. An encouraging result for Pedrosa, who took incredible confidence from a clean weekend which is sure to continue into his two remaining rounds in the championship this year: at Misano Adriatico (July 2-3) and the Grand Finals in Portimão (3-6 November).
